no one is unique

no one

not a single one of you

there are only so many possible combinations of everything, and with all the characters there are, there is going to be someone just like you

christ i wish people would stop bitching about how they want to be unique

right because you deserve something that no one else gets

Says the run of the mill, non-unique forum bitchy person.

I've yet to run into anyone with my armor and dye combination. Also my Mesmer Build is somewhat oddball.

you would prefer everyone to look the same? of course people want to be unique.. dont be so pathetic.

even if the clothing, colouring, weapons, skills, items, pets, capes, armour, sex, and guild hall were similar to another person character.. even if all that was the case their name is most certainly unique! and the person playing that character is certainly unique... as is that persons style of play.

We have a player in our guild who is a necro with a sword and all he does is hunt bog skales everyday because he likes to... pretty unique if you ask me.

I have a chimeric Prism, and the divine aura... whilst not unique to me its certainly not something that just anyone can have.... and I have never met anyone who uses the prism, so it feels pretty unique to me even if statistically it cant be.

Guildwars doesnt offer much chance to be unique.. so when I spot someone who is, I always compliment them.

My necro has a really interesting face that you don't see used often. It actually makes her look interesting. She's also a N/W with an axe. And she does all the missions with henchies because she refuses to play a battery. She doesn't want to be a monk's bitch. Alaine is also terribly fond of the collector's armor, but she's too lazy to roam around looking for it. >>

My monk has a face that you don't see used often, too, as well as being terribly short and using a rather fun combination of armor- ascetic's feet, Wanderer's "pants", Saintly top, and wanderer's handwraps (I, too, love how they swing around). After I get my guild hall, I'm going to spend my money to convert all her armor to 15k and gradiate it to match the cape. <3

Then, the characters I play in PVP...

My necro can take pretty much anyone in 1v1 and actually uses spinal shivers effectively. I think that's all that's unique about her. =)

N/Me who's a cursebearer. I laugh at the people who tell me curses is useless for a team. Like in their face, really loudly. That would be the character persona coming through. 15k bonelace which isn't too unique, dyed blue+purple all over.

E/Me pyromancer who acts more like a mesmer when it comes to attacking things. Desert collector armour dyed red cause it looks much better than 15k or 1.5k Pyromancer. Going for fissure armour when I get enough materials and funds.

Mo/X, my farmer, eventually will have all the skills for all secondary proffessions and be quite flexible in PvP. Wearing two sets of Collectors armour dyed black (due to boredom) with the typical superiors on them. Probably not too unique there.

Teah Eljin

My FemNecro is unique more in the looks department & she is a Cursebearer. Not very many Necros use Curses as thier primary line. Personality wise she is a b*tch. She is a real mean one.

Lilth Shaitan

My FemMez is unique in that she is a real lady. She behaves like a lady because she is one. She doesn't swear, act rude or behave impolitely. She is also unique in that she doesn't wear what so many other FemMez wear. She thinks most FemMez attire is to risque for public wear & should remain in the bedroom.

Lady Ripley

I'm going to do that most horrid of things and quote the entire post, pictures and all, just because it deserves to be on here twice. This may be one of the most human posts I've ever seen (I don't know what that means either, shut up) and I don't want it slipping through the cracks.

I only rarely play my characters with a personality in chat and mind, but I think I'm going to ascribe them permanent ones, and stick with them. Should be interesting, too, as I'm one of the few socially comfortable bisexuals on here (Though there IS a Pride guild out there apparently) and can fairly happily play either gender character.

On that note, the guy mocking this thread is gay! Fag!

*cough* I love playing with the sensitive mindsets of Americans. Let the flames begin!

Edit: I forgot to add, I have a uniquish character or two myself. I have a touch ranger who's basically a necromancer with good armor and cheap casting. Runs around with a Deadly Cesta and a Focus item of one kind or another. Can sometimes be seen in random arena's standing in the middle of 4 members of the other team, health staying up just fine, spamming the chat with "Poke, poke, poke, poke, POKE YOUR EYE!" while using various touch spells under the cover of defensive stances and spells.

I have a healer necro too, but I understand those aren't especially unique anymore as more and more people figure out how well they're suited to the role.

Yeah, so there. I mean, so what if there are 30 different profession combos, each of which can have 2.230783834E11 skill sets, and can divide their attribute points into up to 9 different attributes - just using the attribute distributions for between 2 and 5 attribute lines (and only assuming 8 attributes available, with none of the remainder points spent) listed on the "guides" page that gives a mere 1708 attribute combos per class, per skillset. Then you have droks, 15k and fissure armours, generally about 5 types of armour per profession, and can mix and match the bits. So you have about 12 choices per armour location (12^5, or 248832 ways to mix them) at which point we can start dying them. There are 8 dyes, right? You can mix them as well, up to 4 dyes per mix, that's 4096 dye combos per piece of armour; now some are repeated; 4*black is the same as 3*black, so we'll cut it down to 4000 to allow for the odd combos: Oh wait, height, face, hair, skin tone etc... so lets just say 6 choices per selection, that gives close to 8000 looks to the character model itself.

Now we have a sensible 995,328,000 ways to dress any of our 8000 character models, which each have one of 11,430,536,370,000,000 skill/attribute choices. That's a ridiculously limiting 88,468,585,460,000,000,000,000,000,000 combinations!

Thank goodness I still get to pick a weapon and a focus or shield, the mods on said item, the possible use of runes, what kind of pet if one is used....

If only I could be an individual.

It's too bad that Guild Wars is so popular; with 4 character slots each they only have to sell 22,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 copies or so before I'm there's a good chance of being duplicated. I hope I finish with this game before then!
[/sarcasm]

My character is Unique because i made it to fit MY playstyle and the way that I view it astetically. so what that there might be another character that looks similar, the character is unique because it was made and played in accordance to MY tastes. as long as your happy with your character, screw anyone else

Personality, personality, personality. Each of my crits have a different personality which, *if* I stay in character, becomes very evident in chat.

Seren (Me/Mo) is proper and refined. No Enchantress nightie armor for her! She isvery serious about her job, thank you very much, and would very much prefer if you gentlemen would clean up your language (and ladies should *never* speak in such a manner!). Her armor is always dyed cobalt blue.

Lili (R/Me) is light-hearted and flirty but shy and something of a loner. She likes to scout and search out new territory--just because others say she can't, being a girl ranger and all that. She really preferes lilac and green armor (somehow the colors works).

Saffir (Ne/Mo) is unafraid of death and considers it her duty to all mankind to ensure that all foes should embrace death as well. She is saucy, sometimes irreverant and sarcastic when faced with utter stupidity. She has no use or patience whatsoever with the juvenile antics of vulgar players who have nothing better to do than hang out in outposts cursing and begging for money/items rather than going out and showering the gentle rays of death upon the world's evil.
